It’s officially fall, and I’ve officially created my Fall 2017 Bucket List!
- Go on a haunted hay ride
- Carve pumpkins
- Watch my favorite Halloween movies- Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. (I just went to see the movie It, and it was crazy!)
- Celebrate Sunday Football w/ chicken wings, pizza, and a variety of chips and dips
- Make candy apples
- Tour a winery
- Go apple picking
- Learn to bake a pie
- Visit a brewery
- Update my fall wardrobe..
Usually by this time in New York I’m bundled up in my coziest sweaters and chunkiest scarves but this past weekend it reached almost 90 degrees! However this weather hasn’t stopped me from rummaging through some of new fall faves that I’m dying to wear. One of favorite go-to looks in the fall is a plaid shirt. Not only are they comfy, but they’re the easiest thing to grab out of the closet to throw on. But one reason that I’m extra in love with plaid flannels this year is because I’ve seen so many with fun embellishments! With October and some of my favorite Halloween festivities right around the corner, I chose this festive plaid button up with little beaded beetles near the collar from H&M, and it was only 12.99!
One thing I can say about my style is that it’s very diverse. One day I will be wearing a rocker aesthetic in all black head-to-toe with studs, stars, and leather; other days I’ll be boho chic wearing earth tones with fringe and suede; and on rare occasions, you’ll see me looking super girly in pink with Curly Q hair.
One of the newest trends I’ve been seeing is not limiting pearl, glitter, and sequins embellishments for only the holiday season. I’ve seen so many bloggers and random people on the streets of NYC wearing these as their every day look in the summer and now into fall which inspired my current look! I played with the details on each piece pairing a pink ruffled top that I bought from Zara for only $12.99 (a super steal), light wash destroyed denim jeans with pearl embellishments, silver BCBG slides from TJ Maxx, and a floral crossbody handbag to complete the look.
Current Mood. Lately I’ve been searching for a change but fear the unknown and the opinions of others. It’s taken time, but I’ve realized I shouldn’t care what others think about me. One of my favorite quotes right now is “being happy is a very personal thing- and it really has nothing to do with anyone else.” It’s easy to forget this. It’s easy to forget that we are the author of our own story, and it’s important to remember to do what makes you happy. Leave the job you hate even if everyone thinks you are living the dream. Go home to regroup or move to a different city because life is not meant to be lived in one place. Spend time with your family, they are the most precious thing you have. Time waits for no one. Time has always been my biggest fear-not having enough of it, not using it wisely.
I’m proud of my accomplishments the past three years. I moved to a city by myself where I didn’t know a single soul. I lived in the middle of Manhattan paying $1,300 for a little cubicle they considered a bedroom. I designed shoes with Sarah Jessica freakin’ Parker! I’ve styled The Bachelor’s Caila Quinn. I’ve played dress up in $30,000 gowns. I’ve worked for the number one bridal store in the United States, and I’ve worked the corporate life with the much needed and appreciated Summer Fridays. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself.
Tomorrow’s page is blank. I don’t know where my next step will take me, but I’m going to put on my most badass studded booties and wear my words on back. If anyone has anything to say about it, they can get off my back.
I’m 26 years old and still dream about being part of the Cheetah Girls. I remember when The Cheetah Girls movie first came out, I was already obsessed with Raven from That’s So Raven because she was so into fashion and always rocked a flower piece in her hair, and Adrienne who was part of one of my fave girl groups growing up called 3LW. One of my best friends and I even choreographed a dance routine in our school’s talent show to 3LW’s song “No More.” Anyways, ever since then I’ve always been a fan of leopard/cheetah print as a small accent to an outfit- a skirt, a headband, a bag, or a shoe. Here, I am wearing an asymmetrical leopard print skirt with a zip from H&M paired with a simple black tee, layered gold necklace, floppy hat, and booties. This is a great transitional outfit from summer to fall with its neutral colors. You can also easily throw on a black cardigan and a pair of black tights when the weather gets a little cool and breezy!
I’ve been waiting for you. Summer has been absolutely amazing, especially since I just topped it off with a week trip to Vegas with my favorite travel partner-my boyfriend. We flew over the Las Vegas Strip in a helicopter, sat third row at Cirque du Soleil Ka, solved crimes at the CSI Experience, and hung out with the Blue Man Group. But now I’m ready for the smell of the crisp fall air and watching the leaves change to yellows, organges, and reds. I’m ready for Football Sundays with pizza and buffalo chicken wing dip, pumpkin carving, haunted hayrides, and Halloween movies: Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, and Beetlejuice.
Plus a new season calls for a new wardrobe. As I was walking to the train the other day, I walked passed Old Navy (where I almost never shop), but I saw that they were having an awesome sale so I decided to stop in and check it out. To my surprise, I ended up walking out with a whole new fall outfit including this floral print, bell-sleeve shift dress, a button down cardigan, and a small mustard yellow crossbody bag with fringe! I paired it with a pair of ankle booties and a floppy hat for the perfect casual fall day outfit.
I don't know about you, but this past week it has been impossible to beat the heat here in the city! It hasn't been below 90 degrees in about 5 days! Sunscreen has been a necessity and so has this cute straw fedora hat from Lulus! Hats have become my new favorite summer accessory.
Paired with my straw fedora is this Hawaiian floral print summer dress and a pair of mustard colored flip flops from American Eagle. This outfit is perfect for a summer Friday drinks date with your best girlfriend on a trendy NYC rooftop, mine being Lucy's Cantina. It will also be the number one outfit packed in my suitcase for my vacay getaway wardrobe. I bought this dress on sale from Lulus, but unfortunately it came in a little big so I simply tied a tiny knot in the center of the dress not only to make it fit a bit more snug, but for a fun little DIY detail!
