So here we are, three weeks into the new year and to be honest- I’ve spent a lot of 2017 in bathroom stalls crying my eyes out. Maybe I’m finally having that quarter-life crisis people talk about. I mean, I am gonna be turning 26 next month where I’ll be considered in my “late twenties.” *Eye roll.* In times of crisis, like Superman, your best friend arrives in your inbox with a little reassurance and a motivational article to remind you life is too short to put up with things that aren’t contributing to your happiness (and to be sitting in a gross bathroom stall crying off expensive eyeliner), sacrificing your health (and hair) for wealth isn’t worth it, failure is opportunity, and happiness is a journey-not a destination.
Sometimes you just need that-a simple text message from your BFF who lives 865 miles away from you, or a boyfriend who brings you 3 bouquets of flowers because he couldn’t decide which color to pick so he bought them all, or your little brother who hops on a plane for a weekend to sleep in your kitchen on a deflated air mattress just to put a smile on your face. A reminder that no matter where life takes you everything is going to be okay. A reminder that you don’t have to be in a certain place at a certain point of your life. A reminder that this life is yours and you can do whatever you want with it. A reminder that someone is in your corner.
Ugh, sorry we got so emotional here, but I needed that- a good vent session with my fashionistas to let you know it’s okay to not be okay, but to learn to keep moving forward. So put on your most stylish outfit and accessorize it with your best accessories and conquer your world. Make it the happiest, most adventurous, and stylish year yet!
This weekend was the first real snow fall I’ve seen in NYC all winter, and it already has me counting down the days until my first 2017 vacation. I was torn between visiting LA (the Grammy Museum, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the infamous In-and-Out Burger–maybe I could even spot a Kardashian), Las Vegas (casinos, pool parties, and J.Lo live), or Orlando (because Disney, duh). The final destination? Drum roll please…
DISNEY because I need a little “if you can dream it, you can do it” in my life right now. And a pair of Minnie Mouse ears.
Until then, I’ll be here, in New York, freezing my butt off in this very chic Francesca’s cardigan and these extremely soft and comfy LuLaRoe leggings. I completed my look with Guess combat boots, grey mittens, and a white beanie (and yes, there is another pom pom on my head–I told you, I’m obsessed)! Happy Snow Day, Fashionistas!
There’s something so promising about a new year. A fresh start filled with new resolutions and goals. A new book and you’re the author with 12 chapters and 365 pages. This year I choose to focus on happiness- indulging in the things I love and letting go of things that are not meant for me. This year I choose to travel- to visit my friends in Atlanta, Cleveland, Chicago, Nashville; to go on vacation in Vegas, LA, Orlando; to go home as often as possible. This year I choose to pick up some new hobbies- aerial silks, kickboxing, yoga. This year I choose to celebrate often, live life to the fullest, and to do so in style.
My first look of the new year was casual and cool. I rocked my sporty, but still girly suede platform sneakers with faux fur pom poms, a pair of destroyed boyfriend jeans, and a plain black sweater. To beat the cold, I accessorized with a burgundy beanie with a multi-color faux fur pom pom and a black parka with the faux fur hood. If you haven’t noticed already, faux fur and pom poms are clearly my newest obsession!
Happy New Year Fashionistas! The best is yet to come..
