Finally, Time to Wine Down

Hey guys! I have been so busy that past two weeks flying back and forth between NYC and home to attend my little brother’s graduation party (filled with cotton candy machines, dunk tanks, and maybe a keg stand or two) and his graduation ceremony. I can’t believe he graduated high school and is now off to college to become an accountant. This makes me feel so old! Ugh. Needless to say, I’m so over going through security check and eating airplane peanuts and pretzels. Thankfully, I was able to sneak some SkinnyPop Popcorn on board in my little Kate Spade!

And lets face it, summer is here, and I’m still complaining about not having my summer bod-no, I haven’t been going to the gym and yes I have been paying $20/month for my Planet Fitness membership. So my only hope is to have better snacking habits. At only 39 calories per bag, SkinnyPop Popcorn is my new go-to snack instead of stuffing my face with carnival cotton candy and the $1 slice down the road. Not only is it only 39 calories, but there are sooo many different popcorn flavors to choose from so I don’t get bored (sea salt and pepper, jalapeno, white cheddar, original, naturally sweet, and even dusted dark chocolate!). It’s also the perfect snack to indulge in while I’m cuddled up on the couch with my glass of Pinot Grigio catching up on my weekly guilty pleasures of reality TV  trying to keep up with the Kardashians, keeping my Bachelorette bracket in check, and figuring out who the hell “A” is in Pretty Little Liars.

However, I’ll be off jet setting again in two weeks. Next stop, Justin Bieber concert! Summer bod, is it too late now to say sorry?

My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard

Two years and two Burroughs later, here’s to another year taking on the Big Apple! Yes, it’s officially been two years since I packed two suitcases and bought a one way ticket to the city. I never thought that I would be working in the bridal industry, writing my own blog, and interning part-time with a celebrity stylist, let alone moving this Midtown Manhattan girl to Brooklyn. So, what’s the best way to celebrate two years of new adventures and discovering the city? Milkshakes!

[Dress and Hat: H&M]

My boyfriend and I went to the famous Black Tap NYC  for the most insane milkshakes! This place has been all over Facebook, and several people I know have attempted to go but there was a two to three hour wait just to get in the door! On a Monday morning, I was expecting to have at least an hour wait, but surprisingly we only had to wait five minutes.. ten minutes tops! (Insider Secret: if you go for just milkshakes and not food, you get taken in sooner-but they do let you order a side of fries because what’s better than dipping fries in your milkshake)!

I decided to go with the super sweet Cotton Candy Shake which was a strawberry milkshake that had a vanilla rim with pink, blue, and pearl chocolates topped with whip cream, cotton candy, lollipops, and rock candy. Can you say sugar rush?! My boyfriend went with The Cookie Shake which was a vanilla shake with a vanilla frosted rim with cookie crumbles and topped with a cookie sandwich,  even more crumbled cookies, chocolate chips, whipped cream, and chocolate drizzle! They also offer the Sweet n’ Salty shake and the Sour Power shake (I’ll let you discover those on your own), and they were super cheap (well, cheap for the city) at $15 a shake. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate two years of exploring the city, ending up with an amazing boyfriend, and still discovering ways to try to “make it” in the crazy world of fashion (because it’s not all catwalks and champagne)!

Jet Set: LV to PAR to NYC

Okay so I’m still not over my trip to Vegas, especially when I see all of my friends going on vacation now. So lets talk about my trip to Vegas to visit Paris and New York City (I told you Vegas has it all!).  My senior year of college, I actually had the opportunity to travel to the actual Paris, France for eight long days (because I learned from LC to always choose Paris), and during those eight days, the most beautiful site I ever saw was the Eiffel Tower. My friends and I even walked over 600 flights of stairs to the very top of the tower, but it was worth every step for a view of a lifetime. Since I couldn’t rent a private jet to take my boyfriend to France, I figured I would take him to the next best thing- Paris in Las Vegas!

At the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, they offer an Eiffel Tower Experience where you get to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower which is almost identical to the one in France and is about half the size of the real Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower Experience took us 460 feet above ground in a glass encased elevator to the observation deck. This to was a beautiful site overlooking the whole Vegas strip. They even had the telescope to overlook every inch of the city just like they do in France! Another cute touch to the Eiffel Tower Experience was being able to buy a lock to place somewhere on the tower with my other half in honor of the Love Lock Bridge idea. How romantic!

We also visited the New York, New York Hotel. I guess you could say it was our home away from home. The outside of the hotel has a replica of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. The inside looked exactly like strolling through New York City streets in the West Village. I almost forgot I was in Vegas! There were fake buildings, fire escapes (Brooklyn’s finest), and taxis everywhere. One of the main attractions at the New York, New York is the roller coaster! Riding the New York, New York roller coaster has been on my bucket list for like, ever..since the first time I visited Vegas with my mom when I was probably 12 years old, and it was time to check it off my list! So, there I went, locked into the New York Subway Station themed coaster, heading 180 feet up the track looking the Empire State Building right in the eye! It was the wildest ride of my life (and the pictures showed it, talk about a bad hair day). We dropped, we spiraled, and we went in and out of the hotel. Finally, check mark!
