On the First Day of Christmas..

On the first day of Christmas my Secret Santa gave to me O•P•I nail polish featuring Coca-Cola! O•P•I and Coca-Cola teamed up together for a collaboration after they were both featured at an expo because of their distinctive features. The colors featured in this awesome set of 10 mini nail polishes includes reds, purples, and pinks: You’re So Vain-illa, Visions of Georgia Green, Centennial Celebration, Coca-Cola Red, Nail Navy, My Signature is “DC,” Sorry I’m Fizzy Today, Get Cherried Away, A Grape Affair, and an OPI top coat. Not only do I love nail polish, but it’s a joke in our office how much I love..or need a can of coke to make it through the day. Since I’m not a coffee drinker a can of Coke is the next best thing!

On the second day of Christmas my Secret Santa gave to me a set of Scentsy “Luna” scents which is my absolute favorite, including Zen Garden and Shimmer, to go with my zen rock warmer. This makes the whole house smell so fresh the minute you walk in. (And my amazing boss sells Scentsy so let me know if you’re interested.. best investment for your house ever!)

On the third day of Christmas my Secret Santa gave to me a set of  fun note pads for my desk since I’m constantly writing the girls notes or reminders for myself. It makes the “to do list” more fun with a cool set of note pads.

On the fourth day of Christmas my Secret Santa gave to me a box of Ice Breakers, spearmint flavor, my fave. Mints are always better than sticky, chewy gum.

On the fifth day of Christmas my Secret Santa gave to me a bottle of Pinot Grigio because what girl doesn’t enjoy a glass of white wine?! In the spirit of Christmas one of my favorite wine quotes is “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas but if the white runs out I’ll drink red!”

On the sixth day of Christmas (and the last day of Secret Santa) my Secret Santa gave to me an American Eagle jean jacket, Alex and Ani compass bangle, Vera Bradley travel make-up bags, and a heartfelt picture frame of me and my mom.

On Sunday it was finally unveiled who my Secret Santa was. Lauren is a beautiful person inside and out. She is my right hand five days out of the week, and I wouldn’t be able to handle the day-to-day craziness without her. She has been a shoulder to cry on, a friend to laugh with, and someone to share “eye rolling” moments with. This girl spoiled me rotten all week for Secret Santa and I couldn’t ask for a better coworker who is more than just a coworker but a friend. Don’t know what I would do without you Laur! Whoville in Brooklyn

Dyker Heights 2

One of my all time favorite things to do during Christmas time (besides wrapping presents, watching ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas, decorating the tree, and baking cookies) is driving around town to check out how everyone in the neighborhood decorated their house for Christmas. Although there are so many amazing houses back at home, Dyker Heights (near 82nd Street and 12th Ave) in Brooklyn has taken the cake!

Dyker Heights 4

There were blocks of mansions decorated with oversized toy soldiers, Santa Claus (who had to be at least 20 feet tall!), and Snowmen. There was even a house that had two functioning carousels that were going round-and-round in a circle with characters riding on it. Some of these characters were just as tall as these luxurious mansions! There were wreaths hung from balconies, thousands of lights, and light shows on the front of the house. It was basically Whoville in Brooklyn. It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen! There really aren’t even words to describe in a blog how amazing this Christmas sight-seeing adventure was.

It’s Lit at Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller 2

It’s the most wonderful time of year where the hot chocolate warms the bodies covered in hats, mittens, and puffy jackets, the Rockettes are kicking their legs up while the blistering snow falls, and Rockefeller Center brings in the most gigantic, beautifully decorated tree that lights up the whole city to enjoy the holidays. The official tree lighting ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 2  and it will stay lit until January 7th. It’s located on 50th Street and 5th Avenue so get there soon to experience the magic of Christmas!

Rockefeller 4

Along with the tree, all around Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th and 51st Street and Fifth and Sixth Avenue, there is a bunch of Christmas cheer. Over-sized Christmas lights, ornaments, and even Santa’s reindeer are lining the streets around Rockefeller Plaza. This is the best area in the city to get into the holiday spirit! After visiting the tree, grab your skates to ice skate around the rink at Rockefeller Center or pull out your best tutu, pair of heels, and throw a red bow in your hair to go watch The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall located right near all of the holiday festivities at Rockefeller Center. Happy Holidays!

Sammy and The City

Carrie Bradshaw ApartmentThrowback Thursday to last summer visiting these infamous front steps. This is the “It Girl” of New York City, Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. I think every young girl who moves to the city dreams of the Carrie Bradshaw experience: walking down the street in a pair of Manolo Blahniks, sipping on Cosmopolitans, writing your own column leading to having your picture on the side of a bus, and of course, finding a Mr. Big. Located in the West Village (specifically 64 Perry Street), Carrie Bradshaw made these fronts steps the most famous steps in Manhattan!

However, what you might not know, is that this apartment was only used for filming the outside scenes and the street is actually very quaint and quiet without all of the hustle and bustle you would see throughout Midtown Manhattan. Carrie’s “real” apartment was located  on the Upper East Side on 73rd Street between Park and Madison with rent that only cost $700/month (which is totally unrealistic for those considering moving here).

Although I haven’t landed my big personal stylist career of becoming the next Rachel Zoe or Lauren Conrad YET (which is my equivalent to Carrie writing her own column and having her picture on a bus), I have become the proud owner of a beautiful pair of black leather Christian Louboutins, started my own blog, and found my handsome prince charming.. and this is only the beginning.
