Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Happy Halloween my little monsters, goblins, and princesses! My favorite part about Halloween (besides picking out the perfect costume.. which will be my next blog) is carving pumpkins! Now where I’m from we do pumpkin picking in a pumpkin patch in the middle of a field where there are hay rides, haunted houses, and miles worth of a corn maze. However, pumpkin picking in NYC is a little bit of a different experience. Since I didn’t want to buy my pumpkin at the local Trader Joe’s store, the closest I got to “Pumpkinville” is in Union Square on my way to work where I then had to manage to carry my pumpkin 4 blocks and two avenues. I considered that going to the gym.

Anyways, this year I decided to paint my pumpkin. I can never come up with a clever face idea when I carve my pumpkin so every year it’s the same traditional triangle eyes, triangle nose, and some weird looking, missing teeth smile. And the thought of picking out all of the pumpkin goo and ruining my newly manicured nails just wasn’t an option. So this year I decided to break out my artistic skills and paint!

Ever since seeing the the Cinderella movie that came out this year, I’ve been obsessed! Everything Cinderella inspired I fall in love with from dresses, to jewelry, and even to my pumpkin. Since Cinderella’s fairy godmother turned her pumpkin into a carriage, I turned my pumpkin into a Cinderella theme too.. Bibbidi, bobbidi, boo!

Avenue of America’s Best Known Celebrities

During my time in NYC this past year, I’ve encountered a handeful of celebrities, mostly because I see them filming at work for Say Yes to the Dress, including Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. But lately I’ve been doing a lot of celebrity spotting on 6th Avenue on my walks to take the train.

My first celeb spotting on 6th Ave was Ā rapper Wacka Flocka Flame. For those who don’t know, he’s best known for his club bangers including “Hard in da Paint” and “No Hands” back in 2010. I saw him leaning against his Escalade with a small crowd around him. Once I realized who it was, a member of his squad noticed me gawking, and walked up to me. Since I was by myself, I figured I might as well ask him if Wacka would take a picture with me. His response “I’m sure he would take a picture with a beautiful girl like you.” Flattered.

My next (and by far the most dreamyĀ celeb encounter) is with Cal who is the vocalist from Timeflies. Yes, we took a picture in the middle of 6th Ave in from of a Halal truck. If you don’t know him, get to know him. Timeflies is best known for their YouTube covers and original music. Check him out on Tuesdays where Timeflies post their remixes and freestyles to some of our favorite songs. Timeflies most recent Tuesday release is “Stitches” Check it out! And just so everyone knows, I will be Cal’s future wife, so paws of ladies haha!

I’ll Take You to the Candy ShopšŸšŸ¬

Who said adults can’t love candy too?! In the spirit of Halloween and trick or treats, let’s talk about one of my favorite spots in NYC, the Sugar Factory, located in the meat packing district.

Although a little pricey, it’s worth every last penny! On this fun night out celebrating my boyfriends cousins birthday, I purchased one of the Sugar Factory’s signature goblets called Lollipop Passion. 60 ounces of melon, coconut, and pineapple topped with lollipops and candy necklaces. The drinks range from about $35-$40 which means these drinks are probably best shared with a friend, but whatever, I said go big or go home!

Go check out their site to check out their  wide variety of goblets, martinis, and cocktails along with their yummy food selection.

And if you can “keep up with the Kardashians,” you might even be lucky enough to spot one of them there. I’ve heard it’s one of Kylie’s favorite spots to go!

Chanel and Cupcakes!

Thankfully, I don’t have to suffer the Monday blues since Monday’s are my days off. So I spent this past Monday roaming around SoHo. Last summer, my two intern friends and I discovered Georgetown Cupcakes on Mercer Street in SoHo. We instantly became obsessed! Since my boyfriend has such a sweet tooth, I decided I just had to take him there! Naturally, he fell in love with it too. Their cupcakes are fluffy with so much frosting.. and the best part is, they even have gluten free for my non-gluten eaters. Pictured above is the Peanut Butter Fudge. To die for!

We also made a stop at Chanel to pick up my earrings I purchased from Paris last summer. Unfortunately my little baby diamond fell out of my earring, but Chanel is great with sending items out to be fixed free of charge, especially since my earring is now no longer made in the US.

There’s no other way I would want to spend my Monday besides with cupcakes and Chanel!

The Day I Joined a Girl Group and My Boyfriend Became PresidentĀ

One of my favorite things about city life is that there is always something to do. I’ll admit, some days I do enjoy being a couch potato, but most days I enjoy venturing out to see what the city has to offer me.

The other day my boyfriend and I decided to go to Madame Tussaud’s New York Wax Museum. I got to join a girl group with the Spice Girls, fight The Rock, and my boyfriend stood at the presidential podium. It’s such a fun place to go to see all the celebrities you love and take fun photos with them. It’s amazing how real the wax figures really look.  I sent my dad a picture of The Rock and myself and he really thought it was him!

They had such a wide variety of wax figures from historical figures, TV stars, Marvel Super Heroes, world leaders, pop stars, and so much more! Definitely a place I would recommend for a fun day out, and it’s super affordable!

It’s All About the Feathers

Two words: Christian Siriano. As some of you may know, I moved to NYC over a year ago where I began working at Kleinfeld Bridal where hit TLC show Say Yes to the Dress is filmed, and one of the many perks of working there is when I get to play dress up! Ironically, the thought of me ever getting married makes me break out in hives, I do however like to play dress up with the not-so-bridalish gowns. This gorgeous black ball gown with feathers is from the fourth season Project Runway designer Christian Siriano. The things I would do to walk down the red carpet in this! But since I’m nowhere near famous, I think my girl SelGo would rock it well.
